over 2,000 years ago, a Greek writer called Antipater of Sidon, compiled a list of what he considered to be the most spectacular buildings of the day. These later became widely known as the Wonders of the World. Nobody knows exactly why Antipater made his list . Perhaps it was intended as an early tourist guide to the countries of the eastern Mediterranean.
